About little about my couple

Katie & Bryce knew of each other growing up but didn’t officially meet until 2018. Katie always jokes that she had a crush on him since the 7th grade as she would often see him at her brother wrestling tournaments, Bryce was one of the top wrestlers in the area! Ten years later, they met in a bar via mutual friends and started with Katie professing her love for him. A couple of days later, Bryce found her on IG and the rest is history! K + B get after it—they value making memories and experiencing new things together. They dated, got engaged in Greece, built out a camper van, and now travel the country in their home on wheels.

I read their inquiry and thought it sounded like a great plot for a romantic comedy!

Why they chose to get married at Lottis Creek Campgound

Colorado has always been a place of exploration and adventure for Katie & Bryce so they knew it was the perfect place for them to get married! Lottis Creek Campground is in Almont, Colorado and is only a short ways away from Crested Butte, a town that K + B knew they wanted to explore before and after their wedding. Lottis Creek Campground is also a short drive from Taylor Reservoir and Cottonwood Pass so they knew that their guests would have lots of opportunities to have fun. K + B reserved the group campground for two nights and camped with everyone before and after their wedding. Together we figured out logistics, I send out nearby vendor recommendations, and an elopement/tiny wedding guide to help them further visualize and plan their day!

More about this Lottis Creek Campground wedding

The morning of their wedding, Katie got ready in her parents camper with her sister, mom, and one of her best friends while Bryce got ready in their van. Before the hike, K + B had their first look in the middle of the campground with all of their favorite people around. After that, we started up the trail. K + B led the way while everyone else followed. We picked up someone very special along the way…we found Katie’s grandma and the horse that they had rented for her so she could make it up to the ceremony space!

There was a river crossing and more hiking up the trail before we finally made it to a beautiful, bright green aspen grove. Katie & Bryce’s ceremony started shortly after. Bryce’s best friend officiated their ceremony and everyone laughed and cried as K + B read their vows. After the ceremony, we took family photos and then everyone headed back down the trail so K+B could take couples photos. When they arrived back at the campground, the grill was going and everyone was refueling. After that, K + B cut their cake and had their cutting log unity ceremony, a German tradition. K + B had their first danced, then K danced with their father before they ate more food and everyone started wind down and hang out.

Review from the couple

“At the time we found Mikayla we were just beginning our wedding plans and we knew our wedding would be anything but ordinary. We could tell immediately that Mikayla was not only going to stick with us through any of our crazy ideas but also help us plan to make it all possible. The resources she shared, including an elopement guide, were amazing and gave us so many great ideas. She was a delight to have around on our wedding adventure which included a long hike, wading through a river, and capturing the moment as my grandma did all this on horseback! She flowed right into our family effortlessly and whenever the wedding comes up in conversation my family members still consistently say “Oh my gosh and how amazing was that photographer!”. I couldn’t agree more, Mikayla is AMAZING and was the perfect person to capture the best day of our lives.” – Katie + Bryce
