If you’ve clicked this link, you’re in the process of planning your elopement and trying to find beautiful places to elope in Colorado! Colorado is a popular elopement destination because of the insane beauty across the state and because you can self-solemnize. Being able to self-solemnize means that a couples doesn’t need an officiant or a witness to make it official! It’s extremely convenient for couples who want to get lost in the middle of nowhere to say their vows!

I’ve put together a short list of very popular elopement destinations for people researching places to elope in Colorado. If you and your honey get lodging in Denver, each of these options would be easy day trips!

Loveland Pass

Loveland Pass is a mountain pass that is accessible year round. It’s the perfect location for an elopement because there are SO MANY PLACES TO EXPLORE! There are numerous pull offs that lead to amazing views. Although it so accessible and there are often lots of visitors stopping to take in the views, it’s not hard to find privacy. The views are amazing and it’s one of the only places you can get these types of views in the winter without snowshoeing miles and miles. The best lighting is before 10 am or before sunset.

Pros:

  • You can drive all the way to the top of Loveland Pass
  • Plenty of trails to explore
  • 360 views of mountains
  • In close proximity to nearby mountain towns

Cons:

  • Lots of driver on Loveland Pass which means parking can be limited
  • Has the potential to be VERY windy

Sapphire Point

Sapphire Point Overlook is beautiful location right outside of Breckenridge, Colorado (about 1.5 hours west of Denver)! It’s one of the most popular overlooks in the state because the views of the mountain and Lake Dillon is so stunning. Also, it’s easily accessible! It’s also very close to a ton of other amazing locations! So if you’re interested in adventuring in multiple beautiful areas, this is an awesome location to start your planning!

Pros:

  • Plenty of nearby adventuring
  • 20-30 minute drive to the very popular mountain town of Breckenridge

Cons:

  • Depending on time of day/time of year, it can be VERY busy

Beaver Creek Wedding Deck

Beaver Creek Wedding Deck has amazing views of mountains in the Gore Range! This Colorado elopement location just over 2 hours from Denver. It’s easily accessible, only requiring a chair life ride to the top of the mountain, before following a path down to the wedding deck. A late afternoon or early evening start time will provide the best lighting!

Pros:

  • Clear view of Gore Ranges
  • Gondola takes you and any guests to top of mountain
  • Stone seating on-site for any guests you want to attend

Cons:

  • If there is nearby lightning as a result of a thunder storm, gondolas shut down meaning you’ll be stuck on top of mountain until storm passes. There are a couple of buildings you could find shelter in.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park has stunning views, is only 2 hours outside of Denver, and is an awesome place to elope. Please keep in mind that RMNP requires a $250 permit to elope there and you can only choose from a specific list of locations there. If you’re really looking for the “Colorado experience”, RMNP is an awesome choice. You’ll see so much wildlife and get to see some of the best views in the entire state! If you don’t want to do a day trip from Denver, Estes Park, Colorado can serve as the perfect base camp because RMNP is just minutes outside of town.

Lists of RMNP ceremony locations include: 3M Curve, Alluvial Fan Bridge, Bear Lake Nature Trail, Copeland Lake, Harbison Meadow Picnic Area, Hidden Valley, Lily Lake Dock, Lily Lake Trail, Lily Lake South Picnic Area, Moraine Park Visitor Center Amphitheater, Sprague Lake, Timber Creek Campground Amphitheater, Upper Beaver Meadows.

Lookout Mountain is an awesome option for couples who don’t want to travel deep into the mountains. It’s easily accessible as it’s only a 20ish minute drive from Denver and very close to the town of Golden. Lookout Mountain boasts beautiful views of the front range! There is a permit required for this location but it’s free. Must be filled out at least 5 days prior to ceremony.
