You’ve started planning your day and you want to know more about eloping in Colorado. First, I’m super excited for you! As an elopement photographer, I work with so many couples who are planning destination elopements! If you KNOW that you and your honey want an adventurous elopement (or want to drive to the top of a mountain pass instead of hike), then stop your search because Colorado is IT baby lol. You should elope in Colorado! Keep scrolling to find out why!
The Scenery is OUT OF THIS WORLD
You guys know that Colorado has mountains. But there is so much more! Good stuff like high alpine lakes, rivers, aspen groves, wild flowers, sand dunes, and waterfalls! There is beauty in every single corner of Colorado. From Telluride, to Crested Butte, to Breckenridge, to Steamboat Springs and literally everywhere in between! You don’t have to go far from Denver to get those amazing views. Find a photographer that gets after it and explores this state! That just means you’ll have more amazing locations to choose from than just the handful that are easily found on google!
You Can Self-Solemnize (Don’t Need An Officiant)
Sorry, let me say it again: YOU DON’T NEED AN OFFICIANT! Colorado is one of a handful of states that doesn’t require a witness or officiant for two people to become legally married. That means more privacy and intimacy and one less expense. You and your honey surround yourselves with mountains, pull out your handwritten vows and go.
Easily Accessible (DIA)
Denver has a huge airport that gets flights from all over the country. Also, Denver serves as an amazing home base because you can travel 2-3 hours in any direction and be in new, amazing parts of the state!
The Beer and Weed Are Top-Notch (and Legal)
Colorado is COVERED in craft breweries and weed dispensaries! Oh, you thought Coloradans are rated some of the happiest people because of the 300+ days of sunlight every year?! Hah I mean I’m sure that helps but still. Everywhere you look, you’ll find a new brewery or dispensary to check out!
Alright friends, THAT is why Colorado is a great place for you to elope! If you need help getting started, I’m happy to assist! I love love LOVE photographing elopements and am a great resource! Happy planning!
